54 close contacts of Covid-19 patient placed under isolation
Indirect contacts will be instructed to self-isolate at home
The case is being investigated to identify the source of infection.

54 close contacts of the positive Covid-19 patient from Male' City has been placed under isolation.

This was revealed by Dr Nazla Rafeeq at a press conference held at the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) on Wednesday evening.

The doctor - a member of the government's Covid-19 taskforce - stated that 54 people who were in direct contact with the confirmed Covid-19 patient from Male' City have been identified through contact tracing and have since been placed under isolation.

She stated that this number is expected to rise, adding that "close contacts" or indirect contacts will be instructed to self-isolate at home.

The case is being investigated to identify the source of infection, said the doctor.

Case investigation is underway to find out through what source did the person contact the disease, this is being done at a rapid pace.

The Maldives confirmed the country's 21st positive Covid-19 case on Wednesday; the patient had no known connection to a positive Covid-19 case nor any travel history.
