Maldives Police Service (MPS) has begun investigating another case of a child falling victim to sexual assault by her father.

Police revealed that they began probing the case after an audio clip went viral on social media, in which a child is heard narrating the story of her trauma.

RaajjeMV understands that although police have launched further investigations into the case, no arrests have been made thus far.

Since the audio clip went viral, the people have been calling for the suspect’s arrest and sources have reported that the man was attacked by a group of infuriated people while he was in Villimalé.

This comes at a time such cases of children being victimized by pedophiles have been on the rise since the heartbreaking news of a two-year-old girl having been sexually assaulted by close family members made the spotlight in mid-January.

Since then, authorities have come under fire for sluggish action on perpetrators.

However, authorities continue to assure the public that they will do “everything” necessary to ensure children’s rights are protected, with police having stated that they investigate such cases as “serious” crimes.
