Chief Executive Officer at the Children’s Shelter, Abdul Shukoor Abdul Hakeem has been suspended.

RaajjeMV understands that Hakeem was temporariliy dismissed from his duties some time on Wednesday.

Speaking to RaajjeMV, an official at the Ministry of Gender, Family and Social Services revealed that his suspension is followed by a case being investigated by the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (HRCM).

Action was taken against him upon the HRCM’s orders.

Although the Children’s Shelter’s CEO has been suspended, details have not been divulged on the case being investigated against him.

HRCM’s investigation into a case regarding the shelter comes at a time the management has drawn public criticism for negligence towards the children under state care. Further, authorities also came under fire during 2019 following the disappearance of a child under state care at the shelter.
