JJ Sports Club is off to a good start in the ongoing Second Division Football Tournament, having beaten Dhivehi Sifainge Club (DSC) in the first match of the tournament.
The team won the match, played at the National Stadium with a score of 3 – 1.
The winning team faced several attacks from DSC into the beginning of the match, with DSC players even having scored its only goal at the 12th minute of the game.
JJ team stepped up their game following this goal and directed several attacks to the DSC goal, having finally equalized the score at the 20th minute.
A minute later, JJ scored its second goal by Hussain Simaz.
The first half of the match ended 2 – 1 with JJ in the lead.
Both teams showed excellent performance during the second half, with players from both teams getting chances to score, to no avail.
The winning team scored its final goal at the 86th minute of the game.
Speaking after the match, JJ’s coach Assad Abdul Ghanee stated that players knew they were up against a strong team when they prepared for the match and that this is a heartening achievement for the team.
Expressing discontent regarding the score, DSC’s coach Mohamed Athif stated that the team aims for the finals.
