Celebration held to welcome 1.5 millionth tourist this year
A total of 1.53 million tourists arrived in the Maldives by the end of November, the tourism ministry has revealed.
The ministry’s statistics shows that this is a 14.9 percent increase, compared to the same period in 2018.
As per the stats, most tourists arrived from China. While 267,875 tourists are to have arrived from China, India is in second place with 145,047 travelers. 120,168 tourists arrived from Germany by November, while 115,049 tourists traveled to the country from Italy.
Ever since tourist arrivals began reaching a million, Maldives has been celebrating the arrival of the one millionth tourist visitor each year. The millionth visitor of this year arrived on August 2; the country reached this milestone on September 9 last year.
