Speaker of parliament, former President Mohamed Nasheed has stated that the parliament is yet to receive the final list of everyone involved in the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) corruption scandal, however, charges will be pressed against those they have hard proof against.

Nasheed made the statement during the Ask Speaker public Q&A session when a question was sent in asking whether action will be taken against the current government officials and MP's that received funds from the MMPRC graft and whether the parliament has received a reply to the letter requesting the list of their identities.

In response, Nasheed revealed that he is yet to receive a reply from the Prosecutor General.

Action will be taken against them. I have not received a response from the PG, perhaps because they are currently in the process of prosecution and are evaluating which individuals can be prosecuted for what length of time, and how much hard evidence there is against them. In my opinion, charges will be pressed against everyone there is hard proof against.

The number of people involved in the MMPRC graft was announced at a press conference held on October 24. At the conference, authorities revealed that 267 individuals received funds from the MMPRC graft whereas previously only 177 individuals were known to have received the embezzled money.

This includes 44 members of the 18th parliament, 16 members of the incumbent parliament, and five members of independent institutions in addition to seven senior government officials inside President Solih's administration, and six members of the judiciary.

Furthermore, 23 individuals in various positions from President Abdulla Yameen's regime, and seven officers from the military are to have received funds from the MMPRC graft as well.
