Defence minister discusses mutual interest in the Indo Pacific, with Australian counterpart
 
Discussions revolved around the mutual interest in the Indo Pacific region and several other topics
 
Mariya expressed interest to further the ties in the defense sectors of both countries

Minister of Defense and National Security, Mariya Ahmed Didi has paid a courtesy call on Australian Minister of Defense, Linda Reynolds and discussed mutual interests in the Indo Pacific region.

The meeting took place in the capital of Australia, Canberra and discussions revolved around peace and security as well as women empowerment.

Taking to Twitter after the meeting, Reynolds expressed her content that the Royal Australian Navy, HMAS Ballarat and Maldives got to mark 45 years of diplomatic relations.

Minister Mariya also expressed interest to work with Minister Linda and further the ties in the defense sectors of both countries.

She went on to express her keenness to work towards further cooperation with the Maldives minister.

Mariya is currently in Australia where she took part in the Ministerial Conference on Counter Terrorism Financing that took place from 6 – 8 November in Melbourne, Australia.
