Additional disciplinary issue lodged against Justice Adam Mohamed

An additional disciplinary issue has been filed against Supreme Court Justice Adam Mohamed Abdulla.
While the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) is investigating the justice, its first investigative meeting was held on Thursday; these meetings are being held in public, as requested by the justice.
Justice Adam Mohamed has appointed former Vice President Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed as his lawyer.
At Wednesday's meeting, which lasted around five minutes, Vice President of JSC and chair of its investigative committee, Masthoor Husni, noted that Jameel's appointment results in a conflict of interest.
Masthoor stated that Jameel is currently a defendant in an ongoing Supreme Court case where Justice Adam is one of the presiding judges.
Therefore, an additional disciplinary issue has been lodged against the justice over the matter.
The hearing concluded after scheduling another for Thursday, 12:30pm, to give Justice Adam adequate time to find another defense attorney.
The commission is investigating Justice Adam after he refused counseling.
As per the current administration’s pledge to reform the country’s judiciary, JSC has been investigating a number of judges as well as the court proceedings.
