The Maldives U-16 football team faced a humiliating defeat against Bangladesh on Sunday, in the UEFA Assist Development Tournament.
The match ended 6-0.
The Bangladeshi team scored four goals before halftime, with goals at the sixth, 13th, 22nd and 36th minutes.
The team continued to attack the Maldivian side in the second half, and scored its fifth goal in the 51st minute.
There was a commotion between the teams at the 55th minute, and a Maldivian player was shown a card and sent off.
While the Maldivian team played with 10 players for the majority of the second half, Bangladesh was able to score its sixth goal of the match at the 85th minute.
The UEFA Assist Development Tournament is being held in Bangladesh. The four nations competing in the U-16 level are Maldives, Bangladesh, Faroe Islands and Cambodia.
Maldives lost its first match of the tournament against Faroe Islands on Wednesday, with a score of 3-0.
It drew with Cambodia in the second match, with a 2-2 score.
Host Bangladesh became the champions, with three wins in a row and nine points. Faroe Islands came in second with six points, while both Maldives and Cambodia finished with equal points- one.
