Opposition ‘Progressive Coalition’ is to hold a rally in the capital this weekend.
While the coalition comprises of Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) and People’s National Congress (PNC), PPM’s secretary general Mohamed Hussain Shareef revealed this during a press conference on Sunday afternoon.
Shareef said that the gathering will start at 8:30pm this Firday at the Carnival Area, in the Henveiru ward of Malé City.
PPM’s leader, former President Abdulla Yameen is to attend this rally as well, along with other senior officials from both parties.
Noting that they will be addressing “the various issues in the country,” Shareef called on opposition supporters to attend the rally.
He added that the opposition coalition intends to strengthen their work “to hold the government accountable” soon.
