The Ministry of National Planning and Infrastructure has contracted Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) with the development of harbors in two islands.
During a signing ceremony held at the ministry premises on Tuesday, Permanent Secretary of Planning Zeeniya Ahmed Hameed signed on behalf of the government and the COO of MTCC Shahid Hussain Moosa, signed on behalf of MTCC.
Under the contract, MTCC is to complete the design and construction of harbors in Guraidhoo island of Thaa atoll and Rakeedhoo island of Vaavu atoll.
As such, while the harbor development project in Rakeedhoo is to be completed within 349 days for a cost of MVR 18,511,404, is it to include the construction of a 156-meter-long breakwater, a 74-meter-long of revetment, a 164-meter quay wall and 08 mooring buoys.
It will also include harbor and channel dredging, construction of a pavements and installation of eight harbor lights and two navigational lights.
Further, MTCC was contracted to construct a quay wall of 370 meters, a breakwater, 15 mooring buoys and one ramp under the agreement signed for the harbor development in Guraidhoo.
The project includes the construction of a walkway and installation of two navigational lights and 18 harbor lights.
While it is estimated to cost MVR 46,015,831, it is to be completed in 475 days.
