Malé City Council has begun implementing the changes brought to one-way roads in the capital, from Saturday onwards.
The changes were proposed by Chair of the Transport Committee, Ahmed Zameer at the council’s 74th meeting, where it was passed with the majority of members present.
Back then the council had stated that the changes will be implemented from 28 September onward.
While several one-ways have been changed across the capital city, the council is also working to bring massive changes as part of the government’s vision to create a less congested and developed capital. These changes will pave efficient ways for pedestrians, bring ease to traffic flow and parking spaces as well.
The council in March announced their decision to develop all roads in the city to provide a long-term fix to the issue of flooding, which has been neglected by the previous administrations. These changes will be brought in consideration with environment-friendly approaches, revealed the council.
