Nasheed is not the type of person who lies: MDP Chairman

Speaker and former President Mohamed Nasheed is not the type of person who lies, says Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) Chairman Hassan Latheef.
Latheef said this in a tweet on Monday after the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) denied telling Nasheed that he is being monitored by the police service.
In the tweet, Latheef said that Nasheed would not have made the statement unless officers from MNDF officers told him that he was being monitored, even if the defence force did not officially disclose the information.
At the MDP national congress on Sunday, Nasheed said that MNDF had informed him three days earlier that he was being monitored by the police service. However, MNDF quickly denied the claim in a press release.
Nasheed also said that MDP members should be vigilant of any attempts from the security forces to harm the government.
