A house in Mahchangoalhi-ward of capital city Malé has been robbed during Eid-Al-Fitr prayer on Tuesday morning.
Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that the burglars took MVR 60,000 along with a mobile phone.
While police have begun investigations into the case, they had received the report of the burglary at 08:33 am.
Cases of theft and robbery are observed to be on the rise of late, especially since Ramadan began.
As such, a recent case of breaking and entering saw the robbery of a hefty amount of cash that belonged to an elderly couple in Faafu Dharanboodhoo island.
Police has since urged the public to lock their doors and safely secure their property before leaving for the Eid holidays.
