Habeys Boduberu signs media partnership agreement with RaajjeTV
 
The 27-member group released the first Boduberu album in the Maldives

Private broadcaster RaajjeTV has signed a media partnership agreement with local music group, ‘Habeys Boduberu’.

Under the agreement, RaajjeTV and the group will support each other’s activities as well as work together in promoting Boduberu, a traditional Maldivian style of music based in percussions.

Habeys Boduberu manager Ali Shifau and RaajjeTV managing director Ahmed Saleem are signatories of the agreement.

The 27-member group released the first Boduberu album in the Maldives, with the release of ‘Jinni’ in 2014.

The group released its second album in 2017 and five more albums together later that year.

The Boduberu style of music is said to have been introduced to the Maldives by sailors from east and south west Africa. Its performed by costumed drummers, singers, and dancers.
