Parliament Minority Leader and MDP Parliamentary Group Leader Ibrahim Mohamed Solih says though the Parliament is the watchdog for the Government, Parliament itself bars from holding the Government accountable.
Speaking to press after the Parliamentary Group meeting on Wednesday, Ibu said the proceedings of the Parliament show the efforts of Parliamentarians to protect the Government. He said that hiding information from the public was a characteristic of the Government. Ibu said it was the Parliament sessions were cancelled under this element as well.
When questioned over the sessions of Parliament, Ibu said that usually members had no idea when sessions will be held or where the Speaker of the Parliament was.
While MDP had submitted the issue of forced membership to ruling PPM to the Parliament as an emergency issue, Parliament this week convened only on Monday.
