This is the second robbery carried out by individuals masked under helmets

A group of individuals with their faces concealed underneath helmets have robbed MVR two million from a Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) van.

Local Sales In-charge at MIFCO, Ahmed Hashim stated that four individuals wearing helmets on two motorcycles had ganged up on a van operated by the company at 3pm on Wednesday.

While there were three individuals inside the van at the time the men broke the glass panes of the van and robbed MVR two million, the cash in question was en route to the airport from MIFCO head office and was the salary for the company’s fishermen.

The robbery took place near Villa College, the official revealed.

One out of the two MIFCO employees and the driver had attained several injuries following the assault.

While this is the second such incident, a group of men masked underneath helmets had robbed MVR 2.3 million from an expatriate near State Bank of India on 10 March.
