Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has begun probing cases related to candidates contesting in the approaching Parliamentary Election, offering bribes.
At a press conference held by the Elections Commission (EC) on Saturday, ACC’s Vice President Muavviz Rasheed stated that there has been specified a framework that lays down policies and rules candidates must follow.
The commission has been receiving complaints that some candidates are going against the specifies rules, said Muavviz.
Three cases regarding bribery have been received by the ACC so far out of which investigation into one has concluded, he added.
Highlighting that the other two cases are being probed, the commission’s deputy said that they have assembled a team specialized to carry out investigation into bribery cases within those candidates contesting for the Parliament Election.
The deputy further urged all candidates to refrain from the act of offering and accepting bribes.
