A road accident has occurred after a speeding car on the highway linking Hulhumale to Hulhule, crashed into the breakwater on the eastern shore.

The private car was en route to capital city Male’ from Hulhumale when it lost control and crashed through the highway fence and into the breakwater.

The crash was reported to the Maldives Police Service (MPS) at around 03:05 am on Sunday.

Police revealed that while the crash had left the car heavily damaged, the driver, 24 and passenger, 20 had attained various injuries as well.

Both are being treated at the Hulhumale Hospital.
