Former vice president Ahmed Adeeb has been transferred back to prison after emergency treatment in capital city Malé.
Adeeb was brought to the Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital on Friday morning after collapsing.
The recently established Maldives Third Way Democrats, who elected Adeeb their leader, told RaajjeMV that he suffered dizziness before collapsing.
Yameen Rasheed, deputy leader of the party, also accused the Maldives Correctional Service of gross neglect, claiming their officers kept him in his cell without attending to him after he collapsed.
Photographs of Adeeb at the hospital lend strength to Yameen’s reports as they show significant swelling in his forehead.
Adeeb was transferred to prison while in treatment at the Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital on 19th January. His family claims he was forcibly transferred and officers refused to show them a letter from the doctor authorizing his discharge.
