Ambassador of Australia to the Maldives, Bryce Hutchesson has stated that Maldives Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid has shown “great commitment” in difficult circumstances over the recent years.
Ambassador Hutchesson stated this after a lunch hosted for the Maldives Minister during his farewell visit to the Maldives.
As the Ambassador’s tenure has come to an end, Foreign Minister had thanked him for the close cooperation and support that the government of Australia has extended to the Maldives during his time in office.
Taking to twitter after the meeting, Ambassador Hutchesson expressed his appreciation to the Minister.
Ambassador Hutchesson further reiterated that the government of Australia looks forward to continue building bilateral ties and cooperation, with the inclusion of education, development and transnational crime as well as Indian Ocean Affairs.

During his farewell visit to the Maldives, Ambassador Hutchesson had met with President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and Vice President Faisal Naseem as well. During the call paid to the President, Ambassador Hutchesson welcomed the Maldives decision to rejoin the commonwealth, further praising the successes of the Government’s first 100-day agenda.
