Maldives Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) states that it has not yet appointed Managing Directors to some state companies because the President has not sent any nominees for approval yet.
PCB President Mohamed Nizar told RaajjeMV that these companies will be under the management of a board member of the company temporarily until PCB officially appoints managing directors.
Stating that PCB will make the appointments as soon as President Solih sends in nominees for the posts, Nizar revealed that they will be looking into qualifications when making appointments.
President Solih wishes to take his time to make appointments to senior positions at state companies, said his Spokesperson and Chief Communication Strategist at the President’s Office, Ibrahim Hoodh.
Hoodh said that swift and hasty changes made to positions at state companies may be detrimental to their work.
Spokesperson Hoodh also said that they have not yet decided when they will be making appointments to vacated positions at state companies since President Solih assumed office in November.
President Solih has thus far appointed eight new Managing Directors to state companies.
