MDP will ‘without doubt’ support primary winners, says Nasheed

Members of the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) will ‘without a doubt’ support any individual that receives a party ticket, says former president Mohamed Nasheed.
Nasheed, founder of the party, said this at an event held Tuesday night to initiate the campaign for Jeehan Mahmood, a candidate contesting in the primary for the Hinnavaru constituency.
“No candidate needs to be concerned, I have no doubt that all members will support any candidate that wins the primary for their constituencies. This party is 13 years old now and there is no other party that holds a primary”, Nasheed said.
Nasheed highlighted that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, who was fielded by the party for September’s presidential elections, made several promises for the benefit of the Maldives people’.
Nasheed guaranteed that the party will continue to work in in line with said promises and serve the Maldivian people.
