Vice President-elect injured while practicing for sports event

Vice President-elect Faisal Naseem has been injured during a practice session held for a football match scheduled for coming Monday.

RaajjeMV understands that Naseem, who is to take oath of office on Saturday, was admitted at ADK Hospital on Wednesday night and released shortly after.

Practice was held on Wednesday evening for a football match scheduled for next week between political party leaders and other prominent political figures.

Naseem was injured on two instances throughout the practice session. One of them was when a ball kicked by former President Mohamed Nasheed hit him on the back of his head. The other instance was while attempting an overhead kick and falling hard on his back.

A close associate of Naseem, who also represents Kaashidhoo constituency in Parliament, stated that he had received a neck injury but that have been no major injuries.

RaajjeMV understands that the doctors have recommended for the Vice President-elect to undergo some tests.

A sports event is scheduled to kick off on Monday, the 19th of November in commemoration of a new Presidential term on the 17th of November, coming Saturday.

President-elect Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and Vice President-elect Naseem are to join a football match that will be a part of the sports event.

Solih and Naseem are to be sworn-in on Saturday at the National Stadium in Galolhu ward of capital city Male’ at 5pm.
