Ex-Minister Naseem to return to Maldives alongside Nasheed

Former Foreign Minister Ahmed Naseem is also to return to Maldives on Thursday, alongside former President Mohamed Nasheed.

Naseem has been living in exile in neighboring Sri Lanka for nearly five years. He was summoned to police on a previous occasion, and his passport was also cancelled after he failed to present himself to police despite being summoned.

Last month, Immigration released Naseem's passport, and that there is no obstacle in him returning to the country.

During his time in exile, the former foreign minister met with international leaders and representatives, expressing concern regarding the President Abdulla Yameen's government.

He had been one of the senior figures in the opposition's reform efforts during his time in exile.
