Local swimmers and coaches have on Saturday held a ceremony to congratulate President-elect Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

Swimmers, coaches and management from New Lagoons Club, Maldives Lifeguard Association had participated in the celebratory event held in Solih’s honor near the swimming track in capital city Male’ on Saturday evening.

Students involved in swimming activities from schools and their guardians also took part in the event.

Throughout this event, the hardships swimmers in the Maldives have to face were shared with the President-elect. As such, the swimmers stressed that the none of the administrations had established a proper swimming pool specialized for swimmers, which poses an issue when practicing for international swimming tournaments and other such international events.

In the ceremony many citizens expressed their high hopes for the administration that President-elect Solih brings, stating that they have high expectations and aspirations from the new government.
