Spokesperson of President-elect Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has revealed that the President-elect is scheduled to head out of the country on Sunday night.
Mariya Ahmed Didi made this announcement at a press conference on Sunday, where she revealed that this is an unofficial trip and Solih is return back to the capital city Male’ on Wednesday. However, the spokesperson did not reveal the country to which he is headed.
This is Solih’s first trip abroad since defeating outgoing President Abdulla Yameen in the Presidential Election held on the 23rd of September, with 58.4% of the votes against President Yameen, who lost his bid for re-election with 41.6%.
It is notable that many foreign leaders and diplomats are congratulating Solih for winning his bid for Presidency, via telephone calls as well as on social media. Many state employees and high-ranking officials at state-run institutions are also observed calling on the President-elect.
