A number of teachers at the Dhaalu atoll education center, have shown support for the Joint Opposition's presidential candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

The teachers, along with some administrative staff at the center, met with Solih on Sunday night, during his campaign trip to the island.

The civil service officers shared their concerns with the opposition's candidate, who assured them that their concerns will be addressed in a unity government.

One of the teachers that took part in the meeting, a leading teacher at the center, Mohamed Fayaz said that the reason they decided to publicly support Solih 'is because we believe that he is the candidate that can solve the concerns of teachers'.

These concerns include salary issues, with Fayaz noting that teachers are being forced to find other means of income due to the low pay.

In addition, noting that work to increase the number of class rooms began in 2016, Fayaz said that 'this is due to a political issue'.
