Police have arrested an individual in Laamu atoll Gan island following gang violence that injured three individuals.
According to Maldives Police Service (MPS), a 23-year-old man was arrested close to 10:00 a.m. on Monday following a gang violence that left three injured near a petrol shed in the island.
The 23-year-old was arrested while he was hiding from authorities in the island’s uninhabited area.
The man was arrested with the help of the intelligence department and officers stationed in Gan police station.
On Saturday, four individuals were arrested inside a parked car under suspicion of a planned assault in the island. At the time officers had found hoods, a knife and wig upon searching the car the individuals were arrested in.
A few hours later, local news outlet VFP reported gang violence that left three injured at around 03:15 a.m. The three assault victims were treated at Gan Regional Hospital with the assault having been reported to the police at around 03:45 a.m.
