Maldives opposition candidate reveals 'three tasks' to be completed on day one of presidency
All jailed opposition leaders will be freed
A committee will be assembled that will investigate the millions lost from state funds
Untimely deaths of several will be investigated

Maldives Joint Opposition’s Presidential Hopeful Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has revealed three things that will be taken care of, on his first day as elected President of the Maldives.

Speaking on RaajjeTV’s “Fala Surkhee” programme on Saturday evening, the opposition candidate pledged to free all four political leaders as well as political detainees 'who have been incarcerated behind bars under unjust prosecution and are doing time for groundless prison sentences'.

Having highlighted that all citizens talk about is the extent to which tyranny has surged in the Maldives and that there is no justice anywhere on Maldives soil during his door-to-door campaign activities across the capital city Male’ and outlying atolls, Solih assured that an opposition government will ensure justice is served.

As a second thing, Solih pledged to assemble a committee that will investigate the millions stolen from state funds, and to begin said investigations under a set of procedures on the first day of his tenure itself.

Stressing that the past five years have seen at least 30 deaths under the administration of President Yameen, Solih pledged to begin investigations to get to the bottom of, and to bring justice to the untimely deaths of several during President Yameen’s inconsiderate rule. As such, Solih pledged to help turn the tables in the failed investigations of the current administration in the cases of slain Member of Parliament for Ungoofaaru constituency, Dr. Afrasheem Ali, abducted Minivan News Journalist Ahmed Rilwan as well as slain blogger and social media activist Yameen Rasheed’s homicide.

Responding to the ruling Progressive Party of the Maldives (PPM)’s negative comments on Solih’s strategy, the opposition candidate said that he will rule the nation under the directions and ideologies of the four opposition parties that comprise the Maldives Joint Opposition, adding that he believes that the four will only direct him for the betterment of the people.
