MET Office issues 'yellow alert' for islands between Huvadhoo and Addu atolls

The local weather institution has been issuing weather alerts for a number of islands in the Maldives this week
The yellow alert level stands until 15:00 on Tuesday

The Maldives Meteorological Services (MET Office) on Tuesday issued a yellow alert for regions between the southern Huvadhoo and Addu atolls. 

The MET Office said that islands in these regions will experience winds of up to 45 miles per hour, heavy rain, and even thunderstorms.

The MET Office further said that winds in the southern atolls during this period will gust from a west and north westerly direction. The yellow alert level stands until 15:00 on Tuesday. 

The local weather institution has been issuing weather alerts for a number of islands in the Maldives this week, given ongoing turbulent weather across the country. 

On Monday, it issues a while alert level cautionary for islands between Raa and Gaafu Dhaalu atoll. On Saturday, it issued the same for all islands between the central Kaafu atoll and southernmost Addu.
