The 27-year-old was remanded for seven days, MPS has not revealed the remands of the other two

Maldives Police Service (MPS) has seized drugs from a minor along with two others in an operation conducted in two different islands in Raa and Shaviyani atolls.

Following an intelligence report that individuals had smuggled drugs into Shaviyani atoll Funadhoo island on the 18th of July, Police had conducted an operation in which they arrested a 27-year-old man.

Upon searching him on a boat travelling from capital city Male’ to Funadhoo, the police had found substances packed in a container suspected to be narcotics. He has since been remanded for seven days.

Police have also arrested a minor, along with a 26-year-old on the night of 21st July for attempting to smuggle drugs into Raa atoll Meedhoo island. The two were arrested near the harbor area of Maduvvari island where the police had seized a rubber packet and four pieces of cellophane suspected to contain narcotic substances upon searching them.

RaajjeMV was unable to get a comment from the Maldives Police Service about their remand at the time of publishing. However, RaajjeMV understands that both the cases are being investigated.
