The Maldives Meteorological Services (MET Office) has issued a white alert for regions between the archipelago’s central and southern atolls.

The MET Office said that all atolls between Kaafu and southernmost Addu will experience winds of about 45 miles per hour, thunderstorms, and heavy rain.

The white alert stands from 08:00am to 1:00pm although rain is expected for another 24 hour period in central and southern atolls.

Winds in the southern atolls will gust from west and south west at a speed of five and 15 miles per hour. Winds in the central atolls will gust from west and north west at a speed of 13 and 23 miles per hour.
