North-Mahchangoalhi MP Mariya Ahmed Didi has said that government needs to hold dialogue with political parties with the inclusion of opposition political leaders.
Mariya, who is also the spokesperson of the opposition coalition’s pesidential candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, regarding the government's invitiation to hold talks with the opposition candidate.
Speaking to RaajjeMV, Mariya said that Solih wishes to engage in talks with the current administration to ensure that the upcoming Presidential Election is free, fair and transparent.
However, Mariya said that Solih believes that the difficulties opposition parties have been facing in engaging in dialogue with the administration are still there and have been since 2016.
Therefore, she said that the government must include former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, Jumhooree Party (JP), Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) as well as Adhaalath Party (AP) who comprise the Joint Opposition, if they are to hold political party talks. Mariya highlighted that Solih requested the inclusion of self-exiled former President Mohamed Nasheed, JP leader Qasim Ibrahim as well as AP leader Sheikh Imran Abdulla in dialogue in the government-held talks.
