Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has said that the search for a missing crew member of fishing vessel ‘Target’ is ongoing on Sunday as well.

58-year-old Abdulla Naseer from Bilehdhoo island of Faafu atoll was reported missing near Vilamendhoo island resort on Friday.

While rescue officers have been searching for Naseer since, they began using a Remote Operated Vehicle (ROV) in the search on Sunday. An ROV is an unoccupied underwater robot that is connected to a ship by a series of cables.

Noting that it has dispatched vessels and divers in the search for Naseer, MNDF highlighted that divers from Dhigurah island, Vilamendhoo Island Resort, Lily Beach Resort and Spa have been assisting in the operation. MNDF is also seeking the help of air taxis traveling in the area.

While Naseer has been missing since falling overboard the fishing vessel, he was last seen wearing a black t-shirt and brown pants.
