Predecessors have worked in the front lines of ruling PPM : Shareef
Predecessor Fuwad Thoufeeq was a member of the opposition Maldivian Democratic Party's national council - Shareef
Fuwad had denied these claims, saying that he had only worked in the MDP's elections committee at the time the party was established

Speaking in the press conference held on Thursday evening, Election commission's recently elected President Ahmed Shareef said that antecedent presidents at the commission had also worked in the frontlines of ruling Progressive Party of the Maldives (PPM).

Likewise, Shareef claimed that his predecessor Fuwad Thoufeeq was a member of the opposition Maldivian Democratic Party's national council.

However, speaking to RaajjeMV Fuwad had denied these claims, saying that he was never a member of the opposition's national council adding that although he had worked in the MDP's elections committee at the time the party was established.

Many had raised questions on the EC's freedom upon Shareef's election to the post of commission's president.

These questioned arose upon controversies that the commission is giving it's all to pry on the matters of the opposition, observing it's every move and continually attempting to attain opposition's confidential information.
