A man has been found dead in Gaaf Alif atoll's Maamendhoo island's lagoon.

Island council chief Mohamed Zaeem said that the man identified as Mohamed Nashid native to Maamendhoo was found at around 09:25 this a.m.

According to Zaeem, Nashid, who had been found in the island's lagoon did not have any bruises or signs of assault on his body when he was found.

The man, who was a fisherman, is believed to have been 30 years of age.

Nashid's body is under police surveillance.
