Local actress Aishtha Rishmy received a warm welcome, after winning big at the South Asian Association for Regional Corporation (SAARC) film festival.

The actress won the Best Actress category at the film festival held in Colombo, Sri Lanka from the 21st to 25th of November. She won the award for her movie, Vishka, which she had produced as well.

She received a warm welcome at Velana International Airport, by her family as well as members of the local film industry.

Vishka's premiere date coincided with this year's Women's Day, and is based on the life of a woman, touching on various issues faced by women within the society.

Back in 2014, Maldives' Ismail "Copy Isse" Rasheed won the award for Best Actor at the film festival.

While a total of 16 feature films were nominated this year, Vishka was the only Dhivehi movie nominated.
