MIRA advised taxpayers to be vigilant about fraudulent tax agents
List of licensed tax agents is available on MIRA website

Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) has advised taxpayers to be vigilant about fraudulent tax agents, who operate without a lisence.

In a circular issued on the 18th of October, MIRA said that several complaints had been made in the past regarding such individuals working as tax agents. The circular highlighted that such individuals are often not well trained to lack crucial information in tax laws and on MIRA procedures.

"We call upon tax payers to ensure that the people working on tax returns are registered with MIRA” the statement said.

A list of licensed tax agents and auditors is published on MIRA's website.

While the tax authority issued a circular to be vigilant about people without tax agent licenses providing illegal services, the due date for Submission of GST Return and payment of GST for the 3rd Quarter of 2017 will be the 29th of this month. It is also the due date for Submission of Green Tax Return for September 2017 and payment of Green Tax.
