Ameen Faisal, the Member of Parliament for the Kanditheemu constituency, has stated that the PNC administration—which came to power under the slogan "Dhiveheenge Raajje"— is now selling off Maldivian land from the hands of its own citizens.
Speaking at Monday's parliamentary sitting, MP Ameen stated that those who came to power through a deceptive plot are now selling off reclaimed Maldivian land. Referring to government officials, Ameen remarked that they could not tolerate the 25-year lease of the airport to GMR under an international bidding process. He further alleged that they had deliberately incited unrest through a calculated scheme by claiming that Indian military personnel were stationed in the Maldives.
Furthermore, Member Ameen stated that the nation's religion, faith, and sovereignty are being sold for personal financial gain. He warned that the Maldivian people may one day be forced into violent conflict and must be prepared to sacrifice their lives and shed blood to reclaim these lands from those attempting to seize them.
Stating that he cannot support the settlement of foreigners in the Maldives, MP Ameen noted that his vocal opposition to the matter would be recorded in the parliamentary proceedings for the sake of history.
"Honorable Speaker, there must be some degree of compassion shown toward the Maldivian nation. I am speaking today because these words will be recorded in the annals of history. Honorable Speaker, let it be known that we opposed this. We stand firmly against this. Foreigners should not be allowed to come and settle here. Honorable Speaker, they must not be granted residency. We are speaking out today, Honorable Speaker, because if we do not, we will lose the right to sing of our love for this homeland tomorrow. Honorable Speaker, our children and our children’s children deserve to have a future in this very land."Ameen Faisal
MP Ameen stated that the Ras Male' project is hindering the delivery of essential services to the Maldivian people. He further described the project as a massive graveyard built for the citizens, claiming it has caused them immense hardship.
