Fehendhoo Police Station Construction Yet to Begin Despite Foundation Stone

Although the council has allocated the necessary land and provided full cooperation for the initiative, which was contracted to Fenaka Corporation, local authorities have yet to receive any official explanation regarding the cause of the ongoing delay.

The Fehendhoo Island Council has reported that construction of the island's police station has come to a complete standstill, despite the foundation stone having already been laid.
Speaking to RaajjeTV regarding the matter, the Vice President of the Fehendhoo Council, Ali Shaufan, stated that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu laid the foundation stone for the project during his official visit to the island as part of his nationwide tour.
Shaufan noted that although the construction of the Fehendhoo Police Station was awarded to Fenaka Corporation, work has come to a complete standstill following the foundation-laying ceremony. He further highlighted that Fenaka has failed to provide any information or progress updates regarding the project.
During a visit to all Maldivian islands in 2025, President Muizzu visited this island and laid the foundation stone for the local police station before his departure. The project was subsequently awarded to Fenaka Corporation. At the time, officials stated that due to Fenaka's inability to manage certain aspects, some responsibilities were stripped from the company and re-assigned under a new arrangement. However, this project has also stalled and remains incomplete in the same manner.Ali Shaufan
Furthermore, regarding the land allocation process, the Council’s Vice President stated that the Police Headquarters had contacted them at the time, requesting the council to finalize the land registration. He noted that although the plot was not initially included in the Land Use Plan, the plan has since been amended and submitted for approval following public consultation and feedback.
At that time, we received several calls from the Police Headquarters requesting that we complete the land registration process. However, the land in question was not originally included in the Council’s Land Use Plan. Following this, the Land Use Plan was amended to include the plot after conducting the necessary public consultations, and the revised plan was submitted for approval. Shaufan stated that the council has allocated the required 5,000 square feet of land for the project and has extended all necessary cooperation. He further noted that despite the council sending a formal letter requesting the work to proceed while registration formalities were being finalized, there has been no visible progress on the project to date.
The foundation stone for the construction of the Fehendhoo Police Station was officially laid on August 12, 2025, marking the commencement of the project's physical works.
