The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has recommended legislative amendments to mandate sports associations and non-governmental organizations to disclose all sources of income, aid, and expenditures.

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) held a press conference on Wednesday to share findings from a study conducted to identify corruption risks within the management and organizational framework of the sports sector.

During the meeting, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) stated that it is legally mandated to conduct research aimed at preventing corruption and to provide recommendations to relevant authorities on necessary corrective measures.

In this regard, a study conducted by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) highlighted a significant decline in financial accountability. To address this issue, the commission recommended implementing legal requirements for sports associations and organizations to disclose all sources of income and expenditures. Furthermore, the ACC advised ensuring that registered sports organizations submit their annual reports, revising existing penalties for non-compliance, and enforcing strict measures against those who violate these regulations.

Furthermore, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has recommended that sports associations establish robust guidelines for disclosing financial statements regarding the funds they receive. The Commission also advised the implementation of a standardized system for budgeting and accounting practices across all associations. Additionally, the ACC recommended legislative amendments to mandate that sports associations maintain complete and secure records of all administrative and financial documentation.

Furthermore, it is recommended that sports associations undergo regular audits and that their leadership, along with employees in high-risk areas, be mandated to submit comprehensive financial disclosure statements. Additionally, the recommendations emphasize the importance of training financial staff in robust financial management and anti-corruption practices.

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) further highlighted several systemic issues, including the lack of regulation for academies operating under sports clubs and organizations, instances of undue influence and conflicts of interest in sports-related matters, and the weak governance frameworks within sports associations and organizations.
