SIMDI Group has opened its first "KuriFresh" outlet in Male', aimed at supplying fresh, high-quality local agricultural produce to households, businesses, and the tourism sector.
Opened ahead of the upcoming month of Ramadan, this outlet will facilitate easy access to fresh local produce grown in the Maldives.
The new outlet was officially inaugurated during a special ceremony by Ismail Azmee Adnan, State Minister for Agriculture and Animal Welfare, and Mohamed Anees, the Ministry's Permanent Secretary. In addition to serving the general public, the outlet will provide fresh fruits and vegetables at both wholesale and retail rates to resorts and hotels.
The KuriFresh brand was introduced with the objective of manufacturing and supplying high-quality products in the Maldives that meet international standards. This initiative is part of the vision of SIMDI Group Chairman Ibrahim Mohamed Didi and CEO Dr. Mariyam Shakeela to enhance local productivity and bolster consumer confidence in Maldivian products through the integration of modern technology.
All products sold at this outlet are sourced directly from farms developed by the SIMDI Group on the island of Sh. Ekasdhoo. Following years of extensive work on the island, the project has now achieved the highest standards in freshness, sustainable production, and food safety. The produce on Ekasdhoo is cultivated using modern agricultural techniques, including greenhouses and hydroponic systems.
Commenting on the expansion, SIMDI Group’s Managing Director Mishal Ibrahim Mohamed Didi and General Manager Yooshau Saeed stated that this marks a significant addition to the company’s extensive portfolio of over 200 brands and 15,000 products introduced to the Maldives. They further revealed plans to open additional Kurifresh outlets across various regions of the country in the future.
Speaking at the ceremony, State Minister Ismail Azmee Adnan commended the initiative taken by SIMDI Group. He noted that such efforts would significantly bolster the government's ongoing work to ensure food security and advance the agricultural sector in the Maldives.
