MIRA publishes names of 25 taxpayers for failure to pay income tax
The Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) stated that prior to publishing the names of defaulters, it had notified them via phone and SMS regarding their outstanding taxes and the potential legal actions for non-compliance. Emphasizing that enforcement actions will be taken against all non-filers without discrimination under its policy, the authority urged taxpayers to settle their dues immediately or enter into a payment installment agreement.

The Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) has published the names of 25 entities that failed to settle their Income Tax obligations for 2024, in accordance with the policy on naming and shaming taxpayers who fail to file returns or make payments.
The Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) stated that the list includes 25 parties whose unpaid income tax exceeds MVR 100,000. MIRA further noted that, in accordance with the policy on disclosing the names of non-compliant taxpayers, these individuals and entities were contacted via telephone prior to the publication of their details. During these communications, they were informed of the legal penalties and enforcement actions applicable to tax defaulters, with additional notifications also sent via SMS.
The Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) has announced that it will continue to take additional measures under its enforcement policy, without discrimination, to recover unpaid taxes and other funds owed to the state.
