The body of the youth who died after being stabbed with a sharp object in Maavah island of Laamu atoll, has been brought to the Maldives after being taken abroad for an autopsy.
Maldives Police Service (MPS) confirmed to RaajjeMV that Moosa's body was brought to the capital Malé City on Saturday night after being taken abroad for autopsy.
The autopsy on Moosa's body was conducted as part of the ongoing police investigation.
The incident where Moosa Ibrahim was stabbed in the neck and murdered occurred on the morning of July 28, near the volleyball court on Maavah island.
The victim of the stabbing case was a 29-year-old, native to Maavah. Information indicates that he was unexpectedly attacked from behind. Police have since arrested a suspect in connection with the case.
The arrested individual is Mohamed Ibrahim, 29 from Nolhivaranfaru island of Haa Dhaal atoll. The police institution has revealed that the perpetrator has a record of drug-related offenses.
The police institution went on to state that based on their initial investigation, this appears to be an assault that occurred between two individuals. The incident took place around 10pm on Monday in the area of the volleyball court on the island.
MPS has since recovered the knife believed to have been used in the fatal stabbing of Moosa Ibrahim in Maavah island. The police team recovered the knife by conducting a dive search in the sea.
The suspect in the murder case, Mohamed Ibrahim, is currently in detention until the end of the trial.
According to the information available so far, the stabbing incident occurred during a drug-related transaction.
Some people from the island who spoke about the incident have stated that both individuals were known to use and trade in drugs.
