President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake have co-chaired official consultations between the two countries.
These consultations, part of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake's inaugural visit to the Maldives, were held on Monday afternoon at the President's Office.
During the official consultations, the president of the Maldives underscored the long-standing 60-year political relationship between the Maldives and Sri Lanka. He also highlighted the strong people-to-people ties, acknowledging the valuable contributions of Sri Lankan nationals working in the Maldives and their role in the country's development.
According to an official statement from the President’s Office, the discussions concluded with both leaders expressing a shared commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation. Key areas identified for collaboration include capacity building, education, climate change, fisheries and agriculture, food security, maritime safety and security, air connectivity, and the development of sports and youth initiatives.
