Minister of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure, Dr. Abdulla Muththalib, has confirmed that the final list under the Gedhoruveriyaa Scheme from those who applied for housing under the previous government will be considered as the list publicized on 15 November 2023.
Speaking at a press conference held at the President's Office to share information about the Gedhoruveriyaa Scheme, the minister revealed that some people had submitted falsified documents to obtain flats. Therefore, they are now working to provide housing to all eligible parties by the end of September.
The minister went on to note that the previous government had made agreements with many parties, but the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) had ordered to stop that work at the time. He emphasized that such a one-page agreement was unprecedented and had been done irresponsibly. The minister stated that the current government is now working to provide flats to all eligible parties in line with President Muizzu's pledge.
He said that they are currently working on identifying and removing ineligible applicants from the list. The minister also stated that the final list will be considered as the final list will be considered as the final list, and they will proceed based on that list.
The minister said that they are currently working on installing water and sewerage systems for the 1,000 completed flats, and this work is expected to be finished by July.
