Jaah Investment has filed a case in court after the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) terminated their agreement and ordered them to vacate the site of 'The Gardens' project in Hulhumalé, which had been under construction for an extended period without completion.
Speaking to RaajjeMV, an official at HDC stated that the agreement was terminated due to the prolonged delay in completing the project. They also cited concerns over the rights of apartment buyers not being secured for a long time. The agreement was terminated on 27 January 2025.
The remaining work on 'The Gardens' apartments, which Jaah Investment was developing in Hulhumalé, resumed under the supervision of Urbanco in October 2023.
Jaah Investment Private Limited was awarded the project in 2017. The company was given two years to complete the project. However, as the project remains unfinished, those who have purchased apartments continue to express their concerns.
Regarding the issue, HDC had previously stated that after terminating the agreement, they would share the plans for completing the remaining work on the property, with the apartment buyers.
