Protests have been held against the unresolved electricity issues in Addu, calling for the Addu power plant to be handed over to the people.
In a protest held on Friday evening in front of the Addu City power plant, people came out and called for the resignation of Fenaka's Managing Director and demanded a permanent solution to the electricity crisis.
The Mayor of Addu City, Ali Nizar, some councilors, and members of the public participated in the protest.
Although President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu said that the electricity issue in Addu City would be resolved by the ongoing fasting month of Ramadan, the Addu City Council also stated that the government has not worked adequately to find a permanent solution to the electricity issue in the southernmost city.
When Fenaka's Managing Director visited Addu City, some Members of Parliament from certain constituencies of the city also arrived.
Addu City Mayor Ali Nizar told RaajjeMV that there should be nothing more important for the government right now than solving Addu's electricity issue.
After a week of uninterrupted electricity, power cuts have resumed in several areas of the city since Tuesday.
Power cuts were observed across several districts of Addu City on Friday as well.
