Efforts have begun to arrest the suspect who leaked photos of Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusaan taken while he was at the Department of National Registration (DNR) where fraudulent forms were being filled for the main ruling People’s National Congress (PNC).
A reliable source spoke to RaajjeMV on the condition of anonymity, saying that this is currently being carried out "on orders from very high up."
The source also stated that there is a suspect at present, and efforts are being made to "corner them and make an arrest."
Officials with vested interests suspect that a political staff member was involved in leaking the photos. They allegedly provided these photos to another government minister who is displeased with Minister Ihusaan. The source also claimed that the photos were leaked to social media under the direction of said minister.
As the issue of filling out a large number of forms using stolen private information of many ordinary citizens to recruit people for the main ruling party heats up, several on social media are calling for Minister Ihusaan’s resignation.
Former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has also stated that the President of the Maldives should take responsibility for all of this, and that something of this magnitude cannot happen without the president's knowledge.
Yameen has also said that this is something that requires Muizzu to step down from his position.
